Last night, ABC World News anchor Diane Sawyer announced her departure from the nightly anchor duties to pursue more in depth reporting for ABC. The very capable David Muir will replace her. More at the link.

The news division said it would give George Stephanopoulos responsibility for breaking news and elections, while Ms. Sawyer will focus on investigations.

    This is not a knock against Diane…serious technical question: I’ve been meaning to ask in this forum: “What is the technology that ABC has been using to auto-blur her face?” The blur auto-follows her face, and is only applied under her eyes and on her cheeks and I think around her mouth…eyes are kept sharp. I’m wondering if this is an in-house thing, or if a company markets this technology.
