Although this episode was the 4th to air in season 1, it was actually the first regular episode ever shot. Posted here is the first of the two page schedule with the second page below in Comments. Rehearsals stared on Thursday and the show was filmed at 8PM on September 8, 1951. The show title is “Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her”. Here’s a snippet from that episode.
And a note about the original openings (which were created by Hanna & Barberra). Phillip Morris does not allow the use of any of it’s vintage advertising online.
They shot this episode in a half hour, as if it were a live theater production. And they had 4 cameras. It was a mess and editing took longer than expected. Lucy, by the way, was wearing layer’s of clothes to make the scene changes quicker. By the next week the 4th camera was gone and they stretched shooting out to an hour.
This is page 2 of the first ever shooting schedule.
