Gene Rayburn VS The Cameramen
The camera crew in Studio 33 at Television City have their hands full trying to follow Gene as he races around the studio at the opening of an episode of ‘Match Game ’78’. The Norelco PC70s are in use and it looks like the center camera ramp is still there, but now, doesn’t go all the way back…just half way. By the way, Gene was only 61 at the time, not 75. Thanks to Juan Leal for the clip.

Gene Rayburn comes out jogging through entire set and studio audience
I worked on this show in 1967 when it was taped at NBC Studio 8H.
anyone know how many seats in the audience?
I worked as a camera op on Match Game, pre Los Angeles, when the show was taped at 30 Rock. Gene Rayburn and the entire production crew were the best in the business.. Dick DeBartolo (Mad Magazine) was the show writer and Gene’s stand-in for rehearsals. We all had a fine time laughing at just about anything.
thinks that’s Johnny Olson at the little table at the top of the stairs
I loved that show but always thought the stars were either drunk or high….seriously!
I think they had a portable ramp. This is “Body Language”, shot in the 80s. You can see a ramp in this video. http://youtu.be/KzcOMQo9PGc?t=40s
Gene Rayburn… we miss ya!!!!
