The Universal Court House Square

Picture Parade #1…The Universal Court House Square

Most recognize this set from ‘Back To The Future’, but it’s been used in more productions than you can shake a stick at. The first time we saw is was with Ma and Pa Kettle in 1949. Enjoy and share! -Bobby Ellerbee

I knew there were video archives lost. I read somewhere that much of it was backed up at another location. Don’t know if that’s true though. I didn’t know about the music archives. This is a map of the damaged area.

UMG has never really officially said what was lost, but it is known that a lot of A&M masters were lost, as was a lot of old Decca tapes and 78RPM stampers.

Spent many hours on that backlot street for various sit-com scenes. I recall that we had to stop shooting when the tour tram came through. The tour was a priority.

They used the steps in Refugee from the Empire, and I recall at least one old Buck Rogers TV episode that used it as well. I think it was a second season episode.

A lot of music history was lost in that fire with the loss of most of the archived masters of Universal Music Group.

And we came very close to losing it, after the 2008 fire.
