RCA Wireless Mini Camera: 1956
In a publicity photo for 1956 convention coverage, NBC’s Chet Huntley poses with the “Walkie-Lookie” camera, a miniature wireless vidicon camera designed for coverage of the 1952 political conventions.
RF exposure limits were very high back then… lol!
This guy invented Live-U??
I miss that man!
i also really miss the nightly Huntley-Brinkley News Report, where REAL HARD HITTING journalism was broadcast instead of bubblegum-looking news readers who spew out miandering, unjournalistic pitter-patter in the same vein from those weekly tabloids sold at supermarkets!!!
wouldn’t ole Chet Huntley be totally bewildered by the micro-sized equipment we now have which do everything all that bulk he’s wearing once did — and more (in living colour, too)?!!
The antenna has a squirrel excluder on it.
something tells me Huntley didn’t wear that around during the convention — wonder how it would have looked on Brinkley ?
The original one-man-band! 🙂
I wonder the weight of the backpack and its temperature at a time when there were no small lithium batteries and transistors were still coming out of the theory. That little antenna is interesting. Totally Jetsons style
En costard semblable il serait parfait pour venir couvrir l’Impact sur le terrain!
