This is election night, 1980 at ABC New York. The big camera is an Ikegami HK 312E with the big Triax box on it’s right side. The ENG camera may be an Ikegami 77, but I’m not sure. Do you know?
Thanks for acknowledging John Anderson in 1980. Still my proudest vote.
Globo TV Network of Brazil was the first broadcaster in Latin America to acquire the Ikegami HK-312s in 1977.
…you are DA MAN, Chuck with the answer to the triax box and thanks !
The triax box is extra electronics that add triax to that standard camera cable body. The original triax units caused a lot of ringing in the pictures. We had some of the first HK-312s at ABC Hollywood. We told Ike about this issue and it took a long time for them to re-design the power supplies with better caps to get rid of most of the ringing. It never completely went away.
HL-79
…what is the Triax box ?, and the other Ikegami is either a HL 77 or 79 ..does the 79 have a built on handle on top ?
