Tomorrow, I’ll post part two which follows the show to New York for a week of taping there, but for now…welcome to NBC Burbank Studio 4, which was also home to Dean Martin.
The cameras are RCA TK47s and we get a good look at the studio in the first minute and again just before the 7 minute mark. For Vanna White fans, there’s a lot of this Atlanta girl here to enjoy and, of the show’s producer Nancy Jones. Tomorrow, we meet the show’s director, Dick Carson…Johnny’s brother. When Wheel taped at NBC Burbank, it was usually five shows in the afternoon with a break after three for a meal in one of the two rehearsal halls. The WHF staff, IA and NABET crew all sat together, including Vanna. She was polite and cordial in the times I mingled with her.
Vanna is actually from Conway, SC (near Myrtle Beach…)
Notice at the 10 second mark, the camera operator wearing the CBS jacket. Either he was discreetly promoting the impending move of Wheel to CBS, or NBC security was rather lax that day in allowing the guy to wear such a thing on the NBC lot 😀
