April 26, 2005…9 Years Ago Today, NBC First HD Broadcast
NBC’s first High Definition broadcast was of ‘Late Night With Conan O’Brien’ from Studio 6A. I don’t know how fast or furious the roll out was there, but below is a photo that shows that when the Sony SD camera were replaced with Sony HD cameras, NBC may have started with new pedestals and pan heads too. These SD cameras are outside 3C in 2007, which at the time was home to ‘NBC Nightly News’. The show now calls Studio 3B home, but guess what…the control room used to switch the show is the Studio 1A control room under the ‘Today’ show’s main set.
Yeah, Z1Cs, I’m surprised. Haven’t seen one of those in years.
When we learned of the on coming arrival of HDTV decades ago, my thoughts went to how bad would things look. As in damaged furniture that was moved around fast, dirty/damage studio floors, poor makeup + other issues hidden by NTSC. I really do not like HD Eng News coverage as the women ( + men) usually look “bad” with facial ageing lines showing up. Local TV is usually the worst when combined with poor lighting. OMG, I can almost see pimples forming! HD movies are far superior in my opinion.
Z one c’s???…wow, they keep on going and going….only fault leaky capacitors…
Looks like the cameras are ready to march on 3C.
