Eyes Of A Generation…Celebrating 10,000 Page Likes! THANK YOU!

One of the reasons I started this page was to be able to share unique photos and videos that depict television’s glorious history, that also include the back stage element of the business. Like this.

The other reason was to create a home for television history that could make it, a living history…and with your help, eye witness accounts and stories, we have done that…together. Thank You! -Bobby Ellerbee

Thanks to Jim Davis for this new, crystal clear shot of the “Tonight” show set with the great RCA TK41s in use in Studio 6B in New York.

The signal to noise ratio (essentially zero noise!) on this FB page is remarkable. In addition, despite being relatively well-versed in this subject, I have learned so much! Thanks to all who contribute to EOAG and congratulations to the founder of the feast on passing this “kilometer marker” of impact progress. Please remember how much this material is deeply appreciated — some of it otherwise far more than merely half-forgotten, more like Ivory Soap purity level forgotten, i.e., something like 99-44/100%!

Carson used 4 cameras. As pictured the one on the left was for Carson only. On the right was for a master shot or 2 shot of Ed and Carson. If there were any acts that same camera was the master shot and also Carson’s walk downstage on the open for his monologue. Not pictured is a camera to the right who would get the guests on the sofa or the guest sitting where Ed is sitting in the photo. There was also a camera backstage to shoot the commercials with Ed.

Dig that “Living Color” backdrop. I used to wonder if the colors on the set or the curtain – remember the color curtain? – when shot on camera created a certain pattern on the waveform and vector monitors.
