FANTASTIC! Take A Look…
This is the entire April 1961 “Color Television Progress” issue of RCA Broadcast News! It’s FULL of great stories and since many of you are off today, it’s the perfect time to take a look. Enjoy!
I always like browsing these old issues of Broadcast News for any pics of my local NBC station. I did notice in this particular issue, Dallas station WBAP is profiled as having all local programs broadcast in color (which explains the otherwise B&W NBC coverage of the Kennedy assassination switching to color whenever they cut to WBAP).
Hey Alan, I worked in that very building shown in the photos of Reeves. I just wonder why the article on Reeves is impossible to read; it’s such low resolution.
“Cultivating Color TV.” You had to live in this exciting brave new colorful world to understand it. Today’s generation(s) simply could not comprehend what a Big Deal color television really was!
I love that KSTP bus!
Fascinating and they included one of my old haunts, Reeves!!! Especially ironic is the article about Japan embracing the RCA technology when within 25 years they would surpass RCA as the main supplier of color video production equipment.
