Once, This Was The Heart Of KNBC News
Thanks to Chuck Snitchler, here is a shot of the KNBC news room at the old Burbank location as it appears today. This is where the reporters, editors and producers desks were. Enjoy and share! -Bobby Ellerbee
The new KNBC control center looks like our TOC at FOX in Century City…

We are now in a much bigger, brand new beautiful building on the Universal Lot. The photos are courtesy KNBC photographer Sean Browning.
Wow, if those walls could talk!
Sad, change happens though.
Looks like the office in Tampa that I worked in for nearly seven years until last May looked like. (Except this one doesn’t look like it had a shop with a chassis dyno attached to it.) I’ve attached a pic of the old Source Interlink Media Tampa office.
Sad
This lets me know it isn’t just happening in newspapers – I have been a print reporter and copy editor, and paid for college as a copy kid. When my husband’s work moved us to the San Francisco Bay Area, I saw all the papers and figured it wouldn’t take long for an award-winning reporter to find a place in a news room. But the layoffs and hiring freezes already had started. And at the Florida dailies where I once worked are shells of their former selves. Some of the best writers I know have careers elsewhere. I got lucky to get my career back in 2009 as the lone reporter at a small daily paper.
Is the whole facility a ghost town now? Once was a great media center.
Those of us who worked at Columbia Square have similar pictures and feelings.
The newsroom in my station’s main offices in Austin, MN will look like this soon. They are moving the news, sales, and administration to Rochester. I get to stay behind with the rest of our operations.
This is a photo I shot in 2008 of the newsroom:
