TeleTales #66…NBC Chicago Class Picture
With Chicago on my mind from the ABC story, I wanted to share this picture from around 1950. There are a lot of familiar faces and names here that went on the New York. Among those that did, but are not seen here are Hugh Downs, Mrs. Francis from “Ding Dong School” and Jack Lescoulie. Enjoy and share! -Bobby Ellerbee
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
You say “class picture.” This is the first graduating class of the Chicago School of Television. What a shot!!!
Great shot. I have a whole bio on Bill Hobin. He went on to great things in the world of television direction.
Here’s Hartzell as Cactus Jim and in his LUM AND ABNER role (or is it roles?).

This should help date the pic: Clarence Hartzell played Cactus Jim on a show produced at WNBQ from 1949-51.
The Great Dave Garroway and most of his crew from “Garroway at Large” as well as other WNBQ legends Burr Tillstrom and Fran Allison with Kukla and Ollie and Studs Terkel. Jules Herbuveaux (who was GM of WNBQ) and Wayne King (The Waltz King) were bandleaders starting in the late ’20s.
