Ever Wonder Where NBC’s Studio 6B Control Room Is?
Here is your answer! As part of a surprise military homecoming, Dwayne Johnson and Jimmy Fallon go up the left isle in the audience and at about 1:25, go behind the sound booth that feeds the house monitors, and into a 7th floor door that leads to the “Tonight” show’s control room.
The surprise unfolds at the second tier producers console, with the director and TD down on the first tier console. Thanks to “Tonight” cameraman Rich Carter for the video. -Bobby Ellerbee
When I first started at NBC the control room for Carson was on the 7th floor. Most likely where the new one is now. Later, the control room for Carson was moved near the studio entrance doors.
Fascinating!
Studio 6B’s Control Room was originally built for WNBC’s use in that same studio. Since it is actually on the 7th floor, the control room is designated ‘Studio 7A’:

Cool. I think the old control room for “Live at 5” was on the same level as the stage. I wonder if they moved it for Fallon or if I’m mis-remembering.
