Gene Rayburn provides the audience with a rare glimpse of Earl.
Does anyone know Earl’s last name? I’m a game show historian (I’ve researched for/contributed to “The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows Vols. 2 and 3,”) and have asked numerous people, to no avail. Earl’s last name would make a great factoid for any subsequent game show book.
I always loved Gene’s antics on the Match Game set!
I always thought that hosting Match Game from Los Angeles really perked up Gene Rayburn, and his funny bone. It was in January 1975 that NBC Radio decided to end ‘Monitor’, the network weekend service out of Radio City New York for 20 years, of which he was one of their hosts.
