Every time I get into an OTIS elevator, I think of Otis Campbell.

Along with Batman, The Green Hornet and Star Trek, 40 Acres (including Andy’s courthouse) appeared in the first season of The Adventures of Superman http://www.jimnolt.com/fortyacres1.htm

CSI New York, Seinfeld and even NYPD Blue were largely filmed on sound stages in LA. On a few occasions, outdoors scenes were shot in New York.

The Andy Griffith show had extensive outdoor scenes and would have needed to be on a set like this.

Thank you for posting. It is marvelous to see the set. It doesn’t really matter where it was located because it lives in our hearts.

Nothing hokey about getting a pork chop sandwich at the Snappy Lunch and walking the sidewalk afterward hearing the “Fishing Hole” being whistled on a PA speaker… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFEkd4t0Oj0

“Mayberry” is more or less alive and well in North Carolina as a small town called Mount Airy. They have embraced the whole Mayberry atmosphere – Snappy Lunch, Floyd’s Barber Shop, etc. It’s quite the tourist attraction. Not a back lot, but a real town. People love it, even though it is really, really hokey.
