Can You Spot The Impostors?

These TK41 cameras prop really got around. Here they are on the set of a ‘Dragnet’ episode. I’m think MGM owned them and I’m pretty sure these are the same two that were used in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” in 1967. If the pedestals had cable skirts, it would be hard to tell if they were real, but the bad wheels and lack of circular vents on the back and left rear side are dead giveaways. Can you name any other productions you have seen them in? Thanks to John Bolin for the photo.

In the early 50’s, at one of the first Emmy Awards, a local Los Angeles TV kid show legend, Sheriff John received his Emmy from Jack Webb. As they walked offstage, John said to Jack, “A day like this’ll never happen again!” Jack replied, “Speak for yourself!”
Turned out, Webb received three lifetime nominations, but no wins.

I just saw “The Thrill of it All” on TCM the other day with Doris Day and James Garner, and they were using 41’s in TV scenes in that movie.

This episode aired last week on MeTV. Have seen 41’s a couple of times on the program.

When I see Jack Webb, all I can think of is “copper clappers”.

When did they put Dragnet on tape? Every episode I saw, and that was most of them, was on film.
