New Video Tour – Ellerbee Camera Collection

New Video Tour – Ellerbee Camera Collection

It’s been a couple of years since the last video tour, so here’s a new version. Last time, there were only 12 cameras on display…now there are 16 on display and that’s about all that my space can handle. To you pros, this may look a little crude, but I’m using a little Sony photo camera while walking and narrating which is no easy trick. This is take 52,456. :>)

If Studio 52 went to color then why did the Goodson/Todman shows move to Studio 50 in 1966? I was under the assumption that they did this so that their shows could be broadcast in color. As far as I know, the Goodson/Todman shows never returned to Studio 52 but remained in Studio 50 until 1971 when their shows moved to the NBC studios at Rockefeller Center.

I love pieces like this. I did a story on a printing press museum in Andover. It’s fascinating to see the changes in technology over the years. I have been lucky enough to work with some of the newer HD cameras at a local access station in Wakefield before I retired.

I wonder how long it will be before the first generation HD cameras wind up as collectibles?

I should’ve said this a long time ago……your collection is definitely one of the finest in terms of its quality. It may not be the size of Chuck Pharis’ collection, but what you do have are among the most celebrated camera models ever made. Quality—not quantity!! 🙂

Now you just need a Hitachi SK110—preferably ex-CBS!!!–and that’ll do it as far as the network cams are concerned!

P.S. you might have to try hooking some of your newly-acquired 370s to those CCUs and find out if they work…. 😛

You know you’ve been in TV for a long time, then you see how far back the camera you were using in the studio, when you started and it really hits home. Thanks for a great video!

…very big like on this one, Bobby ! ..I’m envious, but wouldn’t know what I’d do with a collection like this ..a friend of mine who was a videographer for KSAT was able to leave with a very nice TK-76 ! ..I’ll try to ask him to have a photo with him and the camera on his shoulder and if I get that done, I’ll send to you !
