Hallmark Hall Of Fame: ‘Kiss Me Kate’, November 1958

This was a live color broadcast from NBC’s Brooklyn Studios and it was a huge production with lots of sets. Most of the actors in this musical were members of the original Broadway cast, except a very young Jack Klugman who sang and danced. I would have loved to been there for a live color broadcast. You too?

The factory installed viewfinder hoods were not very good for overall operation, henceforth, the cardboard viewfinder hoods. They worked better.

This was the first musical I did lighting design for professionally, 1965 at Timber Lake Playhouse in Illinois. It is still there, 2012 being their 50th season.
